The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, headquartered in White Plains, NY is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
The Society's mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of lives of patients and their families.
Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $360 million in research specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Last year alone, the Society made more than 812,000 patient contacts through services provided at its Home Office and by its 63 chapters nationwide. Also in 2004, the Society granted more than $41 million to fund 12 Specialized Centers of Research (SCOR) grants and 480 researchers in 15 countries.
The Southern Ohio Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society encompasses a geographic area of 22 counties serving Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and the Miami Valley and southeastern Ohio. Supported entirely by contributions from local companies, organizations and individuals, The Southern Ohio Chapter raised more than $2.6 million for the 2004 fiscal year. Our local chapter also provides support services, educational materials and financial aid to many patients and their families right here in our community.
